2022 Jeep Gladiator Features, Price, Specs, Interior, Colors

A truck is one of the most functional and capable vehicles on the market, but not all trucks offer the same capabilities when it comes to off-roading. In fact, some trucks seem to be made to keep their wheels firmly on the road, despite the fact that many buyers want to take these vehicles off the beaten path.
Jeep transformed the pickup truck industry with the release of the Gladiator, a truck that combined the off-road prowess of the Wrangler with the versatility of a pickup truck.
Pricing
The 2022 Jeep Gladiator is a midsize pickup truck that features a crew cab and a five-foot cargo bed. It’s sold in four main trim levels and the base trim has a starting MSRP of $36,085.
Jeep offers several sub-trims and special edition models, allowing buyers to outfit their rides with premium and flashy features.
Engine Specs & MPG
The two engine options offered on the 2022 Jeep Gladiator are a 3.6-liter V-6 unit that produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 unit rated at 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque.
The 3.6-liter engine pairs with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, although an eight-speed automatic transmission is an option. With the diesel engine, the eight-speed automatic comes standard. The top Mojave trim level is only available with the V-6 gas engine.
When equipped with the V-6 engine, the EPA fuel economy estimates come in at 16 mpg in the city and 22.5 mpg on the highway or 19 mpg combined. If you opt for the diesel-powered engine, the estimates increase slightly to 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway or 24 mpg combined.
All trim levels come standard with Jeep’s four-wheel-drive system.
Towing Capacity
The Gladiator beats out many of its competitors in towing and hauling capabilities. Jeep reports that the truck can carry up to 1,700 pounds of payload, which is a best-in-class number.
When properly equipped, this vehicle can also tow up to 7,650 pounds with the gas-powered engine. The tow hitch, offered as a standalone option or in a package with other towing features, is a must if you plan to tow heavy loads.
The cargo bed also offers impressive versatility with a standard three-position tailgate and optional LED in-bed lighting. You can also add options like tie-down loops and Jeep’s Trail Rail system to improve the organization of the bed, while the optional heavy-duty spray-in bed liner helps to protect the surface from dings and dents.
An optional Cargo Management pack bundles an under-seat storage bin, a 400-watt power inverter, and a 115-volt outlet mounted in the cargo bed.

Safety & Tech Features
All trim levels of the 2022 Gladiator include impressive safety and tech features. With the base trim, you get air bags throughout both rows of seating, stability and traction control with anti-roll technology, a rearview camera, and anti-lock brakes.
All models also come with trailer-sway damping, a system that adjusts the brakes automatically to control the movement of a swaying trailer being towed behind the vehicle.
Jeep offers a few active driver aids as options on this truck. These include a forward-facing camera, forward-collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors.
Standard tech equipment includes an eight-speaker sound system connected to a seven-inch touch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, voice control functionality, and a USB port.
Stepping up to the Overland trim adds a nine-speaker premium Alpine audio system, integrated navigation, additional USB ports in the rear row of seating, and a larger 8.4-inch touch screen.
With the base trim, cloth upholstery, single-zone manual climate control, and manually adjustable front seats come standard. You can equip your Gladiator’s cabin with premium options like leather upholstery, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Trim Levels
As mentioned, Jeep offers the Gladiator in four main trim levels plus additional sub-trim or special-edition versions. The four main trims are Sport, Overland, Rubicon, and Mojave. The other trim levels include Willys Sport, Sport S, Altitude, Willys, Texas Trail, and High Altitude. The exterior of the Sport trim shows off 17-inch steel wheels outfitted with 32-inch tires, crank windows and manually adjustable side mirrors, and a damped tailgate. It also comes with a fold-down front windshield, a folding soft top, and removable doors.
The six sub-trims add unique exterior and interior accents, each with its own design aesthetic. The Overland trim adds rear privacy glass, automatic headlights, larger alloy wheels, power accessories, and heated and power-adjustable side mirrors. With the Rubicon trim, upgrades include 33-inch all-terrain tires, locking front and rear differentials, Fox shock absorbers, rock rails, skid plates, and an electronically disconnected front stabilizer bar. This model also boasts a 4.10 rear axle ratio to enhance the off-road and towing capabilities and fenders that increase its ground clearance.
Choose the top Mojave trim and your Gladiator will include a one-inch lift on the front suspension, Fox internal bypass shock absorbers, and a specially tuned transfer case. It’s rated to handle the terrain of the desert, while the other trims are rated to handle trails. Additional exterior options include a roll-up tonneau cover for the cargo bed, a black hardtop, a premium soft top, LED headlights, and an auxiliary switch group that allows you to wire up to four devices.

Paint Color Options
The outgoing Gladiator was available in Billet Silver, but Silver Zynith has replaced this option. Some colors are exclusively offered on specific trim levels.
Jeep offers nine exterior paint colors for the 2022 Gladiator. These include:
