In addition to the current from the running engine, the motor generator draws current from a process called “brake regeneration.” Energy is created when the vehicle is braking and otherwise decelerating; instead of this energy becoming waste heat, it is turning into additional current to help keep the battery pack fully charged. In the Ram 1500, the pack is attached to the rear wall of the cabin and has insulation to reduce noise from the cooling fans. • Since the 48V battery is powering the electrical system, power isn’t leaching away from the engine, leaving more in reserve for when you need it.

As mentioned, eTorque was introduced for the 2019 Ram model year. Currently, the Ram 1500 from 2019 onward is the only available Ram truck with eTorque, as the heavy-duty Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 do not have an eTorque engine option.

You can get the Ram 1500 with a 3.6L V6 Pentastar mild hybrid or a 5.7L V8 HEMI mild hybrid engine. The V6 eTorque engine has a claimed 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, while the V8 eTorque has 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. These are the same horsepower ratings as the engines had pre-2019, so you’re not sacrificing any power. It should be noted the system adds 90 lbs to the V6 and 120 lbs to the V8, but the performance improvements more than offset this weight.

Which Jeeps Have eTorque?

If you’re shopping for the Jeep nameplate, there are a few choices. Each 2019 and 2020 Jeep Wrangler with the 2.0L Turbo I-4 engine uses eTorque. You can get the 2020 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara edition with eTorque if choosing the eight-speed automatic transmission. We knew that Dodge would not be the same after 2023. How could it be, following the discontinuation of the Dodge Charger and Challenger? How are we supposed to continue in a world without two of the most iconic muscle cars in the world? Furthermore, with other brands also pulling their muscle cars out of production, it feels like the roads just got a little quieter and a little less exciting.

But it’s not really the end! After all, Dodge created possibly one of the best final production years ever for both cars, and you can still find these amazing models here at our Dodge dealership. Surely, the 2023 Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger will go down in history as one of the most impressive farewell campaigns of all time. As a result, it’s very clear that the Charger and Challenger will continue to live on.

First, there was the “Last Call” series, followed by a Mopar super-reunion special edition, not to mention Dodge taking the opportunity to exorcise its last Demon. We’d say 2023 was a depressing year, but we’re still reeling from the amazing way Charger and Challenger said goodbye.

The Last Call Models

Dodge made it clear in 2022 that the 2023 Charger and 2023 Challenger would signal the end of production for these two giants. However, instead of releasing a single special commemorative edition or adding a plaque to the interior of the last production year, Dodge created an entire series of special Charger and Challenger models that ranged across all trim and luxury levels. Best of all, prospective drivers can find these vehicles through the Dodge Horsepower Locator tool. They are limited, they are elusive, and they are amazing.

The first six Last Call models included:

• Challenger Shakedown
• Charger Super Bee
• Challenger Swinger
• Charger Swinger
• Charger King Daytona
• Challenger Black Ghost

Each of these models includes its own array of specialized features. Equally bright, the Charger King Daytona edition combines Go Mango and orange themes, but the real standout on this model is the 807 hp that comes from specially tuning the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody to accommodate a little something extra. Normally, this trim “only” offers 797 hp, making the King Daytona a truly special car.

The Black Ghost special edition does a similar favor to the Challenger and is also based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody variant of the car, but with colors that match the original Black Ghost that prowled along 1970s Woodward Avenue looking to drag race unsuspecting victims. The exterior appearance is throwback to the original from chrome to white script. It even includes a black gator skin vinyl roof, just like the original.

Each “Last Call” model is limited in number. Now that they have been released into the market, it may be easier or harder to track down these rare Dodges, depending on collector demand.

The SRT Demon 170

The final “Last Call” vehicle is special enough to deserve its own section. Known officially as the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170, the last of the “Last Calls” is something of an engineering phenomenon.

In the standard Challenger lineup, drivers have several engine options, depending on the trim they select. This is nothing new. The base engine for the 2023 Dodge Challenger is a 303 hp 3.6L Pentastar V6. That’s definitely more horsepower than your average sedan or SUV. At the other end of the spectrum, Dodge has offered a supercharged 6.2L high-output Hellcat V8 on the SRT Hellcat Redeye, SRT Jailbreak, and Challenger SRT Super Stock models. This engine tops out at 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque.

The 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 “Last Call” model bravely provides 1,025 hp and 945 lb-ft of torque, making the trip from zero to 60 mph in a mere 1.66 seconds and dishing out a cool 2.004 Gs––that’s G-force measurement for drivers who have not had the pleasure to experience it. To emphasize this fact, consider that the Challenger SRT Demon 170 received a violation letter from the National Hot Rod Association due to running an 8.91-second quarter mile without a safety cage or parachute.

Of course, that’s with E85 fuel. If you use standard pump gas, you “only” get 900 hp and 810 lb-ft of torque. The balance of responsibility and pure thrills often requires compromise.

The Mopar Special Edition

Mopar Special Editions have become a fixture for Dodge vehicles since 2010, including special collaboration models of the Challenger, Charger, Dart, and Durango. As a way to memorialize this collaboration, the Mopar Custom Shop put its touches on a 2023 Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack Widebody. Exterior Guide

The 2024 Jeep Compass is 173.4 inches long, 73.8 inches wide, and 64.8 inches tall. It has a front and rear track of 60.7 and 60.3 inches, a wheelbase of 103.8 inches, and a turning radius of 18.1 inches––unless you buy the Trailhawk, which instead has a radius of 17.7 inches. These dimensions make the Jeep Compass one of the smallest vehicles Jeep has to offer, but don’t let that dissuade you. Besides the base model (the Sport), every trim level comes with standard automatic high beams and available LED fog lamps. Although not standard on the Sport, you can buy rain-sensitive/intermittent windshield wipers on the Latitude and Latitude Lux or opt for the Limited or Trailhawk, which boasts these wipers as standard features.

For wheels, your size and the ones available to you depend on which trim you buy. The Sport comes with 17-inch wheels, which can’t be swapped for any other size from the factory. 17-inch wheels also come standard with the 2024 Jeep Compass Latitude, but an 18-inch set is available for owners of this trim. If you buy the Latitude Lux or Limited, 18-inch wheels come standard. However, the Limited’s standard tires can be swapped out for 19-inch ones, the largest available tires you can get for the Jeep Compass. The 2024 Jeep Compass Trailhawk is the only trim with 17-inch all-terrain tires and a full-size spare tire as standard features.

With the Sport and Latitude trims, a six-way manually-adjustable driver’s seat comes standard, but the Latitude’s version of this chair can also include two-way power lumbar support if you opt for it. The Latitude Lux and Limited come with eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seats, with the two-way power lumbar support standard on both trims. This lumbar support is available on the Trailhawk if you choose for its inclusion. The Limited and Trailhawk trims uniquely offer the front-seat passenger the same power-lumbar controls as the driver, and these two trims also have available driver-seat memory, which means you don’t have to readjust your seat to your liking after every time someone else uses the vehicle.

Tech Features

Every 2024 Jeep Compass features a Uconnect 5 infotainment center with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. The size of the system doesn’t change on the higher-tier trims, but what does change is the inclusion of Jeep’s in-house turn-by-turn navigation tech, which is prominently featured as an optional package for the Limited and Trailhawk. Likened to some similar systems by other automotive brands (such as Chevy Safety Assist or Ford CoPilot 360), TomTom Navigation provides you with a stylish, constantly updating map of the area around you when you’re on the road, offering turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates, and other information to help you navigate unfamiliar areas. Regardless of your trim level, the UConnect5 infotainment center offers a standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for speedy, secure, and private internet access orbiting your SUV, ensuring you’re never disconnected when out in unfamiliar territory. If you need a better view outside your car anyway, opt for a stylish dual-pane panoramic sunroof, available on any trim except the Sport.

Every trim level also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ready to be linked to most smartphones. While the Sport doesn’t allow it, the Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, and Trailhawk trims also offer a wireless charging pad for your phone. If you purchase the Limited or Trailhawk, you can also opt for Amazon Alexa integration. You can use Apple Music, Android Auto, or Amazon Alexa to listen to your music depending on what music services you’re subscribed to, but if you aren’t subscribed to any music services and prefer using good old radio, then you’ll be pleased to know that HD radio is also available for the Limited and Trailhawk. Every trim comes with a six-speaker audio system, and if you purchase the base Sport model, this is as good as it gets. However, purchase any of the other four trims, and you can instead listen to music through a premium 9-speaker Alpine audio system.

Safety Features

Safety features play a large role in how people conduct their SUV shopping, and in the case of the Compass, you should pay close attention. The 2024 Jeep Compass Sport has many standard safety features, but if you want to experience the full safety suite, you must opt for a Latitude trim or higher. Convenience doesn’t quite describe the other features in this trim. It’s more like the VIP experience. You get a standard universal garage door opener for quickly getting in and out of your garage. Plus, trailer reverse steering control lets you control the vessel you’re towing from your driver’s seat.
